As speculation regarding Ewan Henderson’s future grows, it seems inevitable that he will be added to the long list of those that Celtic have let down.
After debuting in a goalless draw in 2018, the 21-year-old has made twelve appearances for the Hoops.
The midfielder appeared to be in Brendan Rodgers’ plans, after signing a new deal and featuring in the squad regularly, but after the Irishman left to head Leicester, Neil Lennon didn’t give the academy graduate a chance. He was used by Neil Lennon three times in the disastrous season of 2020/21. Despite performing well in a 3-2 win of Lille he was left in the cold.
Neil Lennon has to shoulder a lot of the blame for this, the former Celtic boss was reluctant to give youth players the chance to impress, and even if they grabbed the chance they wouldn’t feature greatly

Henderson spent the second half of last season on loan to Dunfermline where he played well featuring in 10 games and scoring once.
This season, Henderson came off from the bench in Celtic’s Europa League game against Real Betis and scored the winning goal, but, he hasn’t been featured since.
His days at Celtic are numbered now – Ange bringing in players he believe can make an impact now. Hibs could be Ewan’s next destination, for someone who is undoubtedly talented it’s a shame it has to end this way but it is the best move for Henderson’s career.
Celtic’s number 52 leaves Celtic with an amazing stat. Henderson has never lost a game with Celtic, despite playing in the Premiership, Scottish Cup, Champions League, and Europa League.
