Opinion: Celtic Can’t Afford to Sell Midfielder, £7m EPL Rumour

Rumours have been getting stronger that Aston Villa have their eye on Celtic star, David Turnbull this summer.

The midfielder was a bright light in a dark season for Celtic. Coming in from Motherwell, when David got his chance in the first team, he took it with both hands and has been part of the starting XI more often than not.

His talent is obvious and if Celtic get the right men around him, David’s service could be a game changer for the Hoops next season.

The player’s eye for a pass is outstanding and his finishing isn’t too bad either.

Aston Villa are looking to build on last season and bring in fresh talent. There’s always a chance they sell one of their top midfielders in John McGinn – especially if he has a decent Euros.

It was three weeks ago when the rumour first surfaced in SunSport but you can expect the noises to get louder as we get further into this transfer window.

Celtic can’t afford to sell David in this window, we should be looking to build a team around him and a few others going forward. There’s not a fee Villa would be willing to pay that should entice the Hoops.

The reported £7m fee is not enough for Celtic to part with the midfielder. You would be doing well to find someone with his talent for that money.
