YESTERDAY Celtic announced that Scott Brown’s testimonial will have Republic of Ireland as the opposition.
Not only that, but the club made it known that the gate from Scott’s testimonial would go to various charities and go to help the family of former Celtic player Liam Miller after the Irishman’s untimely passing.
It’s fitting on a day that will help the family of Liam Miller that his home nation Ireland will be Celtic’s opponents. Not only that but the man responsible for bringing Liam through the ranks at Celtic, Martin O’Neill will be in attendance as Ireland boss.
It promises to be a great occasion for all taking part and coming along to watch the action.
However, a sorry, sad element of Scottish ‘culture’ has reared its ugly head again with the news Celtic will welcome Ireland to Glasgow.
One Celtic fan put it very eloquently yesterday evening.
Former Celtic player dies. Current Celtic captain has his testimonial against the players national side and donates money to his family. How can anyone interpret that as anything except a magnificent gesture ?

There are idiots out there, that are going to pick a fight for any reason when it comes to Celtic.
Paddy Power allowed a blogger to send out his thoughts and prejudices out into the world with not one iota of respect shown. Describing the day as some sort of ‘IRA fest’ and asking why Scott Brown would choose Ireland for his opposition when he’s Scottish.
Liverpool were heavily linked to be the opposition at one point, Scott Brown isn’t a scouser so would he have been up in arms then?
Celtic fans cannot wait for this game to celebrate their captain and contribute to a number of great causes.
