On New Year’s Day, the January transfer window officially opened. Throughout the month, Celtic will undoubtedly be linked with several players, and manager Brendan Rodgers is expecting a few arrivals.
After Celtic’s pivotal 2-1 win over Rangers in last weekend’s Glasgow derby, the double-treble-winning gaffer spoke out. He said (Glasgow Times): “We’ll hopefully have some of the injured players back and maybe one or two in the door. Then we push on for the second half of the season.”

In what positions said arrivals will be few know although one can muster some guesses. Left-back is likely one given links to Tiago Araujo, Alexandro Bernabei’s likely exit, and the fact Greg Taylor has played more or less every game for the Hoops this campaign. Several attackers have also been linked with moves to Parkhead in the past few weeks.
Put two and two together and we can gain something of a clue about what Rodgers may be looking for this month. His squad is deep as it is, but deadwood needs cleared and quality needs brought in.
There is a gap in action after the St. Mirren clash in which we could see some new arrivals come through the door but between now and then, fans must remain patient as the gaffer sounds out some potential additions for the second half of the campaign.
