Oliver Abildgaard has arrived in Glasgow on Deadline day to complete a move to Celtic in what looks like the Scottish Champions final piece of business of the summer. [Football Scotland]
After raiding Rubin Kazan for Sead Hacksabanovic, the bhoys have went back and now look set to sign their defensive mid dynamo Oliver Abildgaard in the well publicised defensive midfield position.
Celtic fans have been desperate to see a defensive mid come through the door, a player who can help break up the play from stronger attacking sides and be the catalyst to begin attacks.
Callum McGregor sits in the holding role during domestic duty, but it’s clear Ange Postecoglou wants to get Cal further up the pitch during the Champions League campaign.
Oliver is unlikely to play straight away, the midfielder hasn’t played in over three months to this point and might need some tuning up on the training ground before being let loose.
With the Dane now in Glasgow, it seems a matter of time before the deal is announced. Celtic have had a very productive summer, covering key positions and improving the squad as a whole. Ange Postecoglou made NINE changes to the team against Ross County in the League Cup and didn’t skip a beat.
Oliver gives us yet another option.
