Oh Hyeon-gyu has been backed to be a success at Celtic by his former coach who worked with him as a youngster.
Ange Postecoglou revealed that he was the striker that he wanted to sign as he had caught his eye scoring 14 goals in the K-League in 2022.
That was done at a side in Suwon Samsung Bluewings who were fighting relegation meaning he had to carry the load a lot of the time and make things happen.
Behind him at Celtic are so many creative players which should help take Oh’s game to another level as he tries to compete against Kyogo Furuhashi who has been in terrific form this season.
Oh was Celtic’s final piece of January business having already completed the signings of Alistair Johnston, Yuki Kobayashi and Tomoki Iwata.
Having only made his debut for the club less than two weeks ago, he has already managed three substitute appearances and will be hoping that his first goal for the Hoops soon.
It looked as though it was potentially going to come against St Johnstone had defender Andrew Considine not dragged the 21-year-old to the ground and been sent off.

Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren may be the perfect time for the South Korean forward to get some more game time under his belt.
His former coach believes he will be a success and revealed that he is already an ‘idol’ back in his homeland.
“I first saw Oh play football when he was 15. He would have been in second or third year of middle school,” said Kwak Hee-ju as quoted by the [Scottish Sun].
“I watched a game he was playing in and straight away, I felt he had the talent to be a very good striker. At 15, he was a player with excellent physical strengths and skill.
“It seemed like he already knew how to behave as a professional footballer.
“Oh has always had a lot of curiosity to learn and he absorbed good advice and lessons.
“Even if Oh was doing well at an amateur age, he was not satisfied. He never stopped learning. The biggest strength of this player is that he will always ask for advice and look to improve his game.
“Oh won’t think he has learned everything just because he has made a big move to Europe.
“He will learn from the strengths of players who have good skills at Celtic. Oh is an idol for every young player in South Korea. He is an exemplary professional.”
