‘Obsessed With Celtic’ – Gerrard Warns His Players

Steven Gerrard had to respond to his captain James Tavernier putting huge amounts of pressure on himself and teammates; he declared the Ibrox side had to win all their games between now and May to stop Celtic.

The Ibrox defender has been giving Celtic fans the best quotes for the better part of two-years when it comes to the league title.

However, his boss must have been irked at his comments in the press lately and must have been caught off guard by the statement. The Ibrox boss responded by admitting they’re obsessed with Celtic but cannot afford to stop there and must also keep an eye on Killie and Aberdeen, then quickly contradicting himself by saying they need to look after themselves.

For Brendan Rodgers, his philosophy is simple and he reiterated it a couple of weeks back in Dubai by revealing he likes to keep his own garden in check and not look over the fence at others.

Here’s Gerrard’s response to his defender’s statement printed in the Sunday Business Post:

“I agree with James, the job has become more difficult after Kilmarnock. That’s a fact. “But we can’t just be obsessed with Celtic. “Kilmarnock and Aberdeen are there for a reason, so we can’t be obsessed with one challenge.

“We need to worry about ourselves and get our game right. If we’re concerned with others, we’re losing focus. “But James is right; there has to be a reaction for us to push on. For us to fight all the way, we need a result today.
