Since the league was shut down, the talk of what to do to wrap up the league has been widely debated.
However, Alex Rae seems to be taking it to extreme levels in a bid to stop Celtic veins declared winners of the league with eight games to go.
For the avoidance of doubt, Celtic want the games to be played. It’s as simple as that; there’s nobody at Celtic Park who would not vote for this first and foremost.
However, if this can’t be done before UEFA’s deadline, then a decision has to be made.
It’s partisan football. If you stand to benefit you’re for it, if you stand to lose out, you’re not.
Alex Rae’s opinion on this subject would be 100% the opposite had The Rangers been leading the table in corner kicks. But thirteen points behind Celtic knowing full well we were swaggering towards nine in a row, the former Ibrox player is adamant Celtic could have blown it.
The only club who have blown it is the club he’s got his pom-poms out for.
He’s threading CAS action if Celtic are awarded the title, he’s in papers talking about clubs losing points in the last stretch of the season, his wee baldy bunnet get red at the mere mention of a Celtic nine in a row party.
Reality bites hard. They tried to stop nine in a row on the pitch and their players failed miserably. Who would’ve thought Alex Rae howling at the moon would present a more significant problem to Celtic’s title than Alfredo Morelos.
The assertion that eight games unplayed should take precedent over 30 games in the board under the banner of ‘sporting integrity’ is laughable.
The guy has lost the plot, he’s clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he’s the correct mouthpiece for that fan base: all staunch, no substance.
A guy who literally helped cheat Celtic out of titles during the EBT era having anything to contribute to this shows you where our media’s priorities lie.
When the nine comes, they will discredit it like they were going to do anyway, regardless of this shutdown.
Me? I’ll be having a drink to Neil Francis Lennon.
