According to reports emanating from PA and cited by RecordSport this evening, there’s one Scottish club pushing for a null and void status with competition money being paid for the positions but not accolades.
It’s the era of self interest and there’s not one decent person willing to admit where the inevitable destination of the title was heading.
Instead, the shut down is being weaponised by many who were bereft of how to stop Celtic winning their ninth consecutive title.
We’re assuming the null and void call is coming from a club that stand to benefit from the season being called off more than the league ending and trophies being handed out.
The source said: There is no good answer. We don’t see how titles, promotion or relegation can be agreed on any basis of sporting fairness.
“Perhaps prize money can be split on the basis of the current table.
“But the league should be ruled void and we start next season as we commenced this one.
“Making the season void is the best of a bunch of bad choices.”
If the season is made null and void, I, as a consumer of the Scottish game will be seeking refunds for every single game I attended.
UEFA and many governing bodies are in the same boat this evening but the nasty backwater that is Scottish football will see agenda driven sewage reach our back pages to back up null and void calls.
