CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS has admitted it’ll be tough for Celtic to make it to the Europa League round of 32 after the defeat to Leipzig.
The makeshift captain was brilliant throughout the match and will be frustrated that the side couldn’t keep a clean sheet. His presence at the back is great; having him back from injury probably saved Celtic a good few goals on Tuesday night.
To get into the Europa League, Celtic need to finish third in the group. To do this, Celtic must beat Shakhtar Donetsk at Celtic Park while taking at least a draw in Madrid. The Hoops also rely on Leipzig beating Shakhtar in Poland after the Ukrainian side won 4-1 in Germany.
Quoted by The Herald after the game, Cameron Carter-Vickers reveals he hopes Celtic can make the competition but admits it will be tough, saying;
“I’m not too sure. We need to keep working hard on the path we are going and hopefully we’ll get there. We have two games left and we want two positive results. Hopefully we can get there.”
Taking a point at the Bernabeu is going to be difficult and probably an unrealistic hope.
