It was a dramatic evening in the east end of Glasgow on Wednesday, but one Celtic fans will be keen to forget. Against Lazio for the most part, though, the Hoops did look impressive and in the last ten, likely to taste victory.
Indeed Luis Palma was unfortunate to have his strike disallowed by the officials, a group that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers deemed as ‘not so good’ post-match. The Irishman said (TNT Sports): “They’re not so good [officials]. In Europe, it’s a little bit more precious, even than in the domestic game. I watched the Champions League games last night and obviously tonight, [there were] some strange decisions to be honest.”

The referee and on-site officials last night were from Lithuania. They missed a couple of significant moments, particularly the visible punch on Reo Hatate.
Rodgers’ criticism of them was apparent post-match and despite the sub-par display from Donatas Rumsas and his team, the double-treble-winning gaffer insisted his men still deserved something from the match. He said: “The performance overall merited something from the game and deserved something. We didn’t quite get that but we’ll fight another day.”
Kilmarnock are up next for the Scottish champions in the league. It is pivotal three points are picked up against the Ayrshire side, and that the Celts get back on track prior to the second international break of the season.
