“Not right now” – Chris Sutton’s Blunt Response To Brendan Rodgers EPL Exit Question

With two league games remaining of the season, Celtic are on the cusp of making it 12 titles out of a possible 13.

The current campaign hasn’t been memorable for possessing a host of positives but rather, for being an emotional rollercoaster that has put fans through the mill.

In the end, however, the players have produced the goods and know that a point at Rugby Park tomorrow evening would win them the league if Rangers don’t slip up tonight at home to Dundee.

Despite a wealth of disruptions this season, manager Brendan Rodgers has remained as collected as ever.

He has had to deal with some situations that have been far from ideal over the past nine or so months but as he said he would when he initially returned, he will see the fans back at Parkhead this month for a title party.

Rodgers has kept to his word and brought home another league triumph, but ex-Arsenal man Theo Walcott thinks he could be a good fit at a team in the English Premier League given the current managerial merry-go-round South of the border.

Speaking on the BBC’s Monday Night Club (via RecordSport), Walcott asked Chris Sutton about the possibility of Rodgers moving back to the EPL.

He said: “On Brendan Rodgers, could you see him coming back to the Premier League? There is obviously a lot of chat about certain managers coming and going. Do you think we will see him again in the Premier League?”

In his first spell at Celtic, the gaffer did depart mid-season for Leicester, but one can’t imagine lightning striking twice.

Indeed, Chris Sutton gave a blunt answer to Walcott’s theory: “I probably am better not to answer that at this stage. I think he has a three-year-deal and I don’t think it’s something at this stage”, quipped the outspoken pundit.

“Further down the line that might happen, but not right now.”
