The English League One side, received a blow today, after a potential takeover bid was put on hold. So it has become even more of a stumbling block for the Scottish Champions to make a deal happen.
The hoops have reportedly placed two bids in for the 20-year old, the latest of which being in the region of £800,000 plus addons which was swiftly rejected.
Neil Lennon is clearly a fan of the player, placing several bids and it is thought he sees him playing the left-wing back role, in the back three formation that Celtic are looking to deploy.
Doughty is also out of contract next summer, so if a deal cannot be made in this window, the Scottish Champions will have a chance to agree a pre-contract with the player in January.
