Adam Idah’s has been placed on the bench for Norwich City’s Championship opener against Oxford United.
Idah wasn’t a starter for Norwich last season before the loan move to Celtic and he picks up where he left off for the Canaries. Some Celtic fans were hoping to see him completely out the squad in the hope it signalled he was set to leave Carrow Road for Celtic Park.
Fans are eager to see the Irishman return to Glasgow. Given the manager knows Adam wants away, there was no way he would start. However, it will be interesting to see if he gets any game time. Presumably Adam is taking up a space in the squad that could go to someone who wants to be at Norwich beyond this window.

Celtic’s reported £6 million bid, with an additional £2 million in add-ons, appears to have caught Norwich’s attention, and Idah’s role today might indicate that a deal is inching closer. But it is also Norwich showing they are happy to keep the player and have him in the matchday squad if an agreement isn’t reached.
If the striker does make an appearance from the bench, it will still leave some doubt about the immediacy of a move.
