No Regrets; Midfielder Breaks Silence After Celtic Exit

YOSUKE IDEGUCHI left Celtic Park earlier in February after an unsuccessful year in Glasgow. The midfielder joined J-League side Avispa Fukuoka on a year-long loan and isn’t expected to continue his Hoops career after that.

Yosuke came in the door at the same time as Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate; both made an almost instant impact on the side. When Yosuke’s time came to get a run-out, he was injured, setting him back somewhat.

After that, he never looked like breaking into the Celtic midfield that was getting stronger game by game and month by month.

Ideguchi was trying to break through into the position held by the Celtic captain, Callum McGregor, which was always going to be a tall order.

Now, he gets set to start his new adventure, Guchi breaks his silence on his time at Celtic:

“I am fit, I have been in full training for a long time. I am ready to play in a full game with my new club,” Ideguci said as cited by Football Scotland.

“I’m not going to look back at Celtic with any regrets, but I can’t honestly say it was a success. Even when I wasn’t playing I made sure I gave everything in training. I believe I improved as a player at Celtic and I am stronger for my time there.”

“I still have the ambition to play for Japan. I have suffered disappointment before when I missed the cut for the 2018 World Cup,§ but I cheered for them like everyone else in Qatar. I’ve had a brilliant reception from everyone at Avispa since I came here on loan and I can’t wait to get started in the league.”
