No Nonsense Alistair Johnston Makes Brilliant Celtic Statement

ALISTAIR JOHNSTON is by no means a dirty player, but he’s Celtic’s new ‘hard man’.

He won’t be bullied by anyone, showing that during the Cup Final, he would stick up for himself and his fellow teammates.

He was involved in a bit of to and forth with some shoving, leading to AJ getting dragged away by the referee and his players, showing his passion for the match.

It was his second derby experience but by far the bigger one, with a trophy to play for. It was clear to see he was right up for the match, and what it meant for the fans to win the match wasn’t lost on him.

Giving some insight into the scrap that broke out, the Candian player said: [Live on Sky Sports]

“I think it’s important not only for ourselves but our fanbase, that we show that it is more than a football match. We understand there’s a lot that goes on and the history of these two clubs.

“It’s important that we don’t get pushed around on the scoreline or on the pitch. I kind of take that with a bit of pride. That’s something that’s always been in my DNA.

“I like to mix it up a little bit and I take a lot of joy in that, especially as a defender. So whenever there’s an opportunity or if I feel like someone is trying to take advantage of one of our super technical players, then I’m going to go in there and stand up for them. I think that just shows the unity and the family spirit that we have at this club just now.”

He’s a passionate player, something Celtic has missed since Scott Brown left. He wears his heart on his sleeve and isn’t scared to put in a meaty challenge.

It’s clear to see how Alistair Johnstone has become a real fan favourite.
