No Agenda – Sky Sports Man Delivers Griffiths Verdict

Sky Sports pundit and former referee Dermot Gallagher has weighed into the Leigh Griffiths debate on whether the player should’ve seen red for a potential stamp.

The violins have been out since Celtic won 4-1 against Hamilton pulling seven points clear of their nearest rivals. It’s not surprise they’re currently making noise – you can smell the fear as their team stutter in the SPFL.

But down to the actual incident itself. Dermot makes the very valid point that once Leigh’s foot has been grabbed and he’s off balance it has to come back down somewhere.

The former whistler then put it down to only Leigh knows if his foot coming down on Woods was meant.

Either way there’s ambiguity in the incident and enough that it simply under no circumstance can be viewed as an out and out violent stamp.

“Griffiths is the only person who will know what his intent was, whether he can get out of the way or whether he can’t,” Gallagher told Sky Sports News.

“When he brings his foot down, he’s got to bring it down somewhere. Is he toppling over? I don’t know, only he knows.”

Leigh was unlucky not to get on the score line but won Celtic the free-kick which would lead to Eddy’s equaliser.

The front man has been enjoying a run in the first team for the first time in over a year.
