Nir Bitton Turns on the Green Brigade After Palestine Display

Nir Bitton has expressed discontent towards the Green Brigade, following a display of pro-Palestine banners by the Celtic fan group prior to today’s match against Kilmarnock. This development comes amidst heightened tensions in the region, as Israel declared war against the Palestinian group Hamas The banners raised by Celtic fans read: “Free Palestine. Victory To The Resistance”.

These banners, accompanied by Palestinian flags, echo the Green Brigade’s previous expressions of solidarity at Celtic Park, notably during European match-up against Hapoel Be’er Sheva which consequently led to a UEFA fine. Nonetheless, the Hoops’ faithful responded by amassing over £130,000 for Palestinian charitable causes.

Bitton was displeased with the decision to display the banners this afternoon, accusing Celtic’s ultras of ‘supporting terrorists’. The Israeli midfielder aired his grievances on Instagram, stating: “Shame on you! Yes free Gaza from Hamas, not from Israel. Supporting terror organisation who’s proudly celebrating the slaughtering of families is absolutely crazy. Embarrassing. “Most of you don’t even know where Israel is! You have zero clue about this conflict and you still act like you know everything. “As a father for 3 kids I want to see how you react when your innocent kids getting slaughtered and kidnapped in front of your eyes! And please don’t tell me this is what Israel do to Palestinians because this is far from being true. Stop being brainwashed and biased and educate yourself with facts.”

Bitton, having participated in many games where the Green Brigade showcased their support for Palestine over the years, seemed to have internalised the situation until his eventual exit from the club.
