Referee NICK WALSH has been given the biggest game of the season so far after landing the League Cup final between Celtic and Rangers.
Celtic fans have their reservations about all referees in the top flight system right now. VAR has added a new layer of scepticism with major decisions going against the Scottish Champions since the technology was introduced.
By giving Nick Walsh the keys to the cup final, the SFA is sending out a message that Nick is one of their best officials.
Walsh was given the first Glasgow Derby of the season at Celtic Park. A game where the Hoops ran out 4-0 winners against their rivals. The whistler handing out six yellow cards on that day; three a piece for both sides.

He was also at Hampden for the semi-final between Rangers and Aberdeen. The official sent off an Aberdeen player and missed Ryan Kent raising his hands during extra time.
One tie Celtic fans will likely not remember is the 4-1 defeat to their rivals during the covid season. Walsh sent off Callum McGregor that day.
Walsh has the chance to show why he deserves to be considered as one of the best referees in the country. However, VAR could prove to be the wild card once again. Celtic fans are confident in what they’re team is capable of, but they know some of the bonkers decisions that could be handed out to tip the scales in their rivals favour.
