BRENDAN RODGERS has broken from his usual mantra of not talking about other clubs players by giving fans an update on Celtic’s pursuit of John McGinn.

The Irishman was asked about the possibility of Celtic landing the Hibs midfielder after their first bid was knocked back by Hibs.

“I just wait to see what happens between the clubs, really.

“That will be organised, hopefully, between the two clubs – and hopefully we have another player.”

It’s thought the two sides are nearing a deal which will see John make his dream move to Celtic Park and it could happen as early as Monday.

Rodgers also intimated he would be keen to bring McGinn in to play his part in the first team straight away.

“We need to strengthen. We have a core squad that’s very strong and We want to add to that.

“But I don’t need to add guys who will be on the bench. I want guys who can come in and affect the team.
