New Deal On the Table for Hoops Star

Celtic captain Scott Brown is reportedly set to be offered a brand new deal at the club.

According to the Daily Record, the 35-year old who’s 14-year stay at the club is set to come to an end in the summer is supposedly set to be offered new terms in order to convince him to stay another season.

It comes after reports suggested that Brown could be a target for Aberdeen as a player/coach as they also enter a transitional period looking for a new manager to take them forward.

It could all come down to the sort of role which the central midfielder will play at the Hoops next season with it being thought that he does not want to be a bit-part player.

This season certainly hasn’t been the greatest of Brown’s long and illustrious Celtic career. Fans would have loved nothing more than to see him lift the league title once again.

Football League claim the Celtic captain is on £25kpw right now. You would have to imagine any new deal would be on much reduced terms.

Many have expressed an opinion though that this should be the time to move on, due to his age and regression on the field.

Ultimately, this decision is key when it comes to a new manager coming in. There is a chance that they might want Brown to stick around and help in some sort of fashion, but there could also be the opposite scenario.

He definitely has some big decisions to make come the summer as to whether he will continue at Celtic or begin his coaching career elsewhere.
