New Celtic Signing Has Not Impressed Enough at Lennoxtown – Report

Kieran Devlin of The Athletic and the Cynic has delivered an interesting tidbit on one of Celtic’s summer signings.

I don’t think too many will be surprised Osaze Uroghide is not first team ready after joining from relegated Sheffield Wednesday.

However, Devlin believes coaches at Celtic Park believe he’s so off the pace guys currently in the colts such as Dane Murray and Bosun Lawal are ahead of Osaze in his development.

Devlin wrote “It is understood 21-year-old Urhoghide has not impressed enough in training to be considered a viable first-team option at this time after joining from a Sheffield Wednesday side who were relegated to the English third division. It has been suggested B team 18-year-olds Dane Murray and Bosun Lawal are possibly ahead of him in their development.”

At the start of the summer, it felt like a numbers game with Celtic when they were bringing players into the club. Osaze came in and played some pre-season games and has even found himself on the bench this term.

Not being up to scratch to be a proper first team player at the moment or even a squad option is concerning. Why did Celtic sign him if they didn’t see that in the young lad, considering we needed first team players.

Osaze will have the opportunity to grow and develop at Lennoxtown and hopefully he can prove some people wrong.

Osaze can’t play for the colts due to age restriction so his game time will be limited to friendlies and cup games – something that could be detrimental to his progress.

The club might have run out of time trying to get loan deals done for players stuck in limbo between the first team squad and the colts.
