‘Never Making That Mistake Again’ – Rodgers Hails Celtic’s Ruthless Response Against Dundee

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers reacted to the Hoops’ 6-0 win over Dundee at Celtic Park tonight, with Celtic now 13 points clear of second-placed Rangers.

With Celtic having drawn 3-3 with Dundee at Dens Park just over three weeks ago, they had something to prove tonight, and that was evident in the performance. Arne Engels and Daizen Maeda both bagged a brace, while Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn also got on the scoresheet.

For Celtic, it was the perfect performance with Bayern Munich coming up in a week’s time in the Champions League knockout playoff first leg at Celtic Park.

The Hoops rose to the occasion this evening, and considering how well Celtic have played for much of the season, it was arguably their best performance of the campaign—something Rodgers echoed in his post-match comments.

He said: (BBC Scotland), “Definitely one of the best [performances] of our season.

“From minute one to the 93rd minute we had a real hunger in our game and real quality in our game.

“But we were never going to make the same mistake as what we did in the 3-3 game.

“I think you saw the difference tonight with the counter-pressing and the numbers around the ball and winning the duels, and that gives us the possibilities to play and when we play like that then we can produce great moments.”

It was certainly a standout performance—it had it all. Substitutes like Nicolas Kuhn made an impact off the bench with a goal in the second half, while Adam Idah has truly risen to the occasion in the nine days since Kyogo’s departure.

After scoring a brace against Aston Villa a week ago, finding the net on Sunday, and adding another tonight, Idah continues to impress.
