Former Rangers winger and BBC Sportscene pundit Neil McCann complained about referee John Beaton’s decision not to award a penalty to Rangers at Hampden this afternoon.
With VAR not awarding a penalty, it was clear that the foul from Liam Scales on Václav Černý on the edge of the Celtic box did not warrant a penalty.
McCann made sure to focus on the incident which led to a yellow card for Scales, rather than praise the Hoops for a hard-fought win that showed their character and winning mentality.
With Sportscene host Jonathan Sutherland asking McCann what he thought about Bobby Madden’s post-match comments, that it should have been a penalty.
McCann said: (BBC Sportscene), “Totally agree, we said it at the time, if you’re on the line, you’re inside the box. There’s an attempt to tackle, Cerny’s right foot is on the line.
“The point I’m making is that the foot is on the line, and therefore it should be a penalty. I’m amazed that the Rangers players are not going berserk there and putting pressure on the VAR to take a look at that.
“Maybe they have, and they’ve just said to John Beaton that there’s nothing to see here. There’s plenty to see there, that should have been a penalty.”

McCann’s comment that Rangers players should have put pressure on officials is clearly something that he learned during his time at the club under Dick Advocaat and Alex McLeish.
Putting pressure is certainly something that Rangers players tend to do during Glasgow derbies.
However, McCann looks to take this to a whole new level of embarrassing, rather than focusing on what was a great win for Celtic.
