Neil Lennon’s Discouraging Transfer Update

NEIL LENNON was obviously delighted with his team’s efforts on Tuesday night; winning 6-0 in a comprehensive win against the champions of Iceland.

There will be much sterner tests to come but the Celtic manager was happy with what he saw. Celtic never lost their intensity in the game and continued to press the opposition even when the game was out of sight. Keeping up the same kind of high tempo performances is difficult in an empty arena but it’s something which will come in handy as the weeks and months go on.

Asked by BBC Scotland Radio after the game if he was close to bringing any new faces into the club, Neil was coyer than he’s been to date:

“We’ll see. It’s given us a bit of breathing space but I’m happy with the squad, we just need a few of them to get up to speed.

“But for where we are at the minute we’re doing okay.”

It doesn’t sound like there’s a deal in the offing, just yet. The club have made three additions to the team this season, so far. We have Moi back from Southampton who scored a brace against KR, Vasilis Barkas from Athens and Albian Ajeti from West Ham.

There should still be some additions but with the window not set to close till October, it could be a waiting game.
