NEIL LENNON has given us the latest update on Leigh Griffiths but has contradicted reports the player is set to make a sensational return to the first team.
Leigh has been out with personal issues since late last year, the club giving him time off to get better and try and get to a place where he’s healthy and happy.
Since being given the time off, we have seen cameos from the Celtic striker on social media; recording himself on the treadmill and recently posting a picture of him and Neil Lennon with a sand timer.
The club wants to make sure Leigh is completely ready for coming back before he makes his return and while Neil would love to have him back in the squad, he has told CelticTV that a return this season might not be feasible.
“The sooner we get Leigh back the better. We’re keeping tabs on that and we want to get him back on the training ground as soon as possible.
“But at the moment he isn’t close to that.
“I don’t know if him being back this season is feasible. We’ll have to gauge that.”
