Neil Lennon Transfer Update Doesn’t Make Sense

NEIL LENNON has told us for some time since Hatem Elhamed came in that he and the club were working on several deals. Since then, the trail has gone cold on signings with the fans expecting to see new faces through the door.

The Celtic manager obviously wants to add to his squad and especially after seeing his star player Keiran Tierney leave for Arsenal on Thursday but the caveat he laid down to the Celtic support just doesn’t make sense.

We have lost a lot of players this summer but at today’s press conference ahead of the Motherwell game on Saturday, the Irishman admitted Celtic may need to get rid of a few more before anybody comes in. Why?

We just had a statement less than 24 hours ago from the club saying they didn’t have to sell Keiran Tierney and it was the players wish to go. Considering even if we’d kept Keiran, we’d still need reinforcement – why the caveat from the manager?

We’ve lost a whole first team defence and so far we have brought three players in to come straight into the first team and one for the future in Luca Connell.

While there are still fringe players who could be sent out on loan or on a permanent transfer, it should not be necessary for Celtic to bring new players to the club.
