NEIL LENNON is set to face Celtic fans for the first time since leaving the club in February.
1st Star have confirmed they’ve booked the former Celtic manager for a Q&A alongside his former midfielder partner Paul Lambert.

The Hoops manager has been on a ‘nothing was my fault’ media tour this summer with regards to Celtic’s incredible collapse under his watch. There were mitigating factors for sure, but the culture at the club and the professionalism cultivated by Brendan Rodgers was all but gone by the time Neil left the post.
It will be interesting to see how the night goes. The bhoys at 1st Star could be in for a colourful evening if some fans attend in order to put difficult questions to the Irishman.
However, there are a group of Celtic fans who believe Neil can do no wrong because he’s one of us – those are the most likely to attend such an event.

The personal abuse levelled at the manager was shocking at times but the measured criticism of his Celtic tenure the second time around was absolutely fair game.

Paul Lambert was outspoken about Neil Lennon last season to the extent he called up Stan Petrov to call him out for suggesting Lennon should step aside on a podcast.
Lambert believed the hysteria of Glasgow was punishing Neil Lennon and bought into the entitled fan nonsense being touted by many.
The idea Celtic fans were simply distraught because they weren’t guaranteed the title is a misleading narrative. The supporters witnessed the wheels coming off the bus very early on and implored the decision makers at the club to make difficult calls.
Celtic fans will back the manager and team if the signs are there they can turn things around – last season that was never the case.

Neil Lennon should know that more than most, for when he lost the league on the final day of his first full managerial season – the fans stayed after the game to applaud and encourage him because he was building something.
We wish the bhoys at 1st Star all the best with this event.
