Neil Lennon has hit back at recent allegations that he urinated on the pitch during a Rapid Bucharest training session, calling the accusations “completely fabricated.” The former Celtic manager addressed the rumours on Frank McAvennie’s Let Me Be Frank podcast, dismissing them outright.
Lennon, who took over as Rapid Bucharest’s head coach in the summer, has faced intense scrutiny since his arrival in Romania. The latest claims suggested that not only had he urinated on the pitch but that he and his coaching staff had appeared inebriated during training sessions.

When McAvennie brought up the allegations on the podcast, Lennon expressed his frustration at being the subject of such rumours. “You’re just getting on with your work and then you see stories like that that are completely fabricated,” Lennon explained. He admitted that he had hoped moving to Romania might allow him to work out of the spotlight, but it seems the media pressure has followed him there.
Lennon’s time at Rapid Bucharest has been eventful, in a short space of time. The Irishman has struggled to get the best out of the team so far — the new manager bounce not really taking flight.
The interview with Neil was recorded before the news broke about the sad passing of his mother. We and the Celtic family have sent our deepest condolences to the Lennon family at this difficult time.
