Former Celtic captain and manager Neil Lennon has revealed the one Hoops player who quietly went under the radar in Zagreb yet impressed the Irishman.
With Cameron Carter-Vickers awarded Man of the Match by UEFA, surprisingly, it wasn’t Carter-Vickers who stood out.
Instead, it was another one of Celtic’s other defenders.
Lennon said: (TNT Sports), “That game in Atalanta was the making of him (Auston Trusty). He hasn’t looked back since.
“He’s just so quick across the back line.
“He’s making the game look easy at the minute, and it isn’t.”

Trusty has stepped up a gear over the last couple of months. At first, he appeared unable to displace Liam Scales, and considering he cost a reported £6 million from Sheffield United, it wasn’t the start some expected.
However, after a chance in the team due to a Carter-Vickers injury, which led to his incredible performance in Bergamo against Atalanta, he has looked every bit the £6 million defender alongside Carter-Vickers, with the US partnership becoming a real building block of this Celtic side.
With an incredible Kasper Schmeichel behind them, defensively, the Hoops have gone up a gear this season, particularly in Europe, with the exception of Dortmund away, of course.
Trusty looks to be a real classy defender, and for the money Celtic paid, it’s exactly what they were looking for, not only to create competition in the squad but to improve the starting 11 immediately after a domestic double last season.
