According to The Sun, Lennon has been offered a two-year contract by Rapid Bucharest, with the deal valued at £750,000 per season.

The 52-year-old is expected to be announced as Rapid Bucharest’s new manager following the club’s upcoming derby match against their rivals Steaua Bucharest. The game will take place at the newly constructed Rapid-Giulesti Stadium, an event to which Lennon has been invited to attend as a special guest.

Lennon’s potential appointment was hinted at during a Sky Sports broadcast of Celtic’s title-winning game against Kilmarnock, where he appeared as a pundit. When asked by presenter Eilidh Barbour if congratulations were in order, Lennon cautiously responded, “Not yet. We’re in talks at the moment but I’ll keep you posted on it.”

The comment also prompted a humorous exchange with fellow pundit James McFadden, who joked, “Two games in a row beside us and that’s what it does to you?”

Time will tell if Neil Lennon does indeed make his return to management.
