Neil Lennon Names The Two Strikers Celtic Should Be Looking At

It is well-documented that Celtic are looking at bringing in a striker at some point in January. Dutchman Sydney van Hooijdonk has been linked with a move to Glasgow, but nothing has yet to fully materialise regarding that.

Mathias Kvistgaarden has also been mentioned as a potential option, however things have gone dormant there.

As we enter the final 48 hours of the window, there seem to be no concrete links with any centre-forwards. Former Celtic gaffer Neil Lennon, though, has outlined the two number nines he would be eager for the Hoops to sign.

Speaking on PLZ Soccer, the gaffer who clinched the quadruple treble revealed his opinions that The Bhoys should be looking at two of Scotland’s leading marksmen: “We have talked about Shankland and Miovski”, he said.

“Those two would be the pick for me. They know the environment and I am sure they would go on to do better things at a club like Celtic with the coaching and players around them.”

Both players have been linked to Celtic at some point over the past month or two, but nothing has grown beyond that. The club won’t see Shankland as a player with much re-sell value given he is 28, with common sense telling one a move for Miovski would be more likely out of the two.

Reports at the beginning of December stated Celtic were in for the North Macedonian internationalist, with John Hartson labelling any deal for the 24-year-old “good business”.

Nothing noteworthy has yet to recently surface regarding Miovski, though, and the same can be said for Shankland. Despite Lennon’s opinions, it is hard to foresee a move for either player given the time left in the current window.
