Neil Lennon Names One of the Most Influential Celts of Last 20 Years

NEIL LENNON has been gushing about one Celtic star he’s had the privilege to manage not once but twice during his career in the dugout.

As Celtic go through their qualifiers and get ready for the new SPFL season which is just over two weeks away, the Celtic manager has paid homage to his captain.

Scott Brown is entering another season and at the age of 34 is still as hungry as ever to keep winning things for this club. The treble treble captain has been written off on more than one occasion and proves his critics wrong time and time again.

He may have to slow down on the amount of games he plays this season. With Celtic starting so early and depending on how things pan out there could be nearer 60 games played before it’s all said and done.

Speaking about his captain to SunSport, there’s no doubt in Neil’s mind that Scott Brown is still the man around Celtic.

“Did I do a similar job? I wouldn’t have had Broony’s legs! I’m more clever, obviously, but he covers the ground.”Lennon told SunSport.

“Broony is one of the most influential players at Celtic over the last 20 years. He would be in the top three or four comfortably.

“I had not one shred of doubt about him when I came back as manager earlier this year. He was outstanding in the run-in.

“I was so glad Scott had signed a new contract before that because I know what it’s like when you are debating what you might do at that stage of your career.

“You might be thinking of a new challenge, and it can eat away at you subconsciously.

“Scott just wasn’t on it, but as soon as he signed it was as if the light came back on, and he was back to his best again.”
