Neil Lennon Explains Griffiths Decision, Delivers Midfielder Hint

Neil Lennon has one eye on the SPFL while playing Copenhagen in the Europa League with the Irishman admitting he left Leigh Griffiths at home because he didn’t want to take a risk on him.

Celtic have a lot of important games coming up and the striker has been part of a successful 3-5-2 system so far.

The Celtic gaffer revealed it was a hamstring injury which occurred last minute that’s keeping Leigh out the squad but was hopeful he’ll be ready to go for Killie on Sunday.

“Griff picked up a hamstring twinge in training, so we didn’t take the risk of asking him to travel. We hope he’ll be okay for the weekend. It is [a blow] with the form he’s been in.” Lennon told CelticTV.

“Mohammed Elyounoussi’s done it before as well. I’ve a fair idea what the team’s going to be, how we’re going to play and how we’re going to start. We’ll see where that takes us.

“We will see how the game’s rolling. It’s not trying to be smart or clever or do something different, it’s just trying to find a way to win the game.”

Celtic could line up 4-3-3 in the Parken stadium with Celtic reverting back to the formation which saw them win their Europa League group.

Edouard up front, flanked by Moi and Forrest with seems like the logical thing to do.

There’s the potential of playing Klimala or Bayo in a 3-5-2 but neither has built a chemistry with Eddy to this point. Moi being back means Celtic players can slot into their natural positions in a 4-3-3.
