Neil Lennon Counts Cost of Cup Victory – Celtic Duo Injury Sweat

Celtic are counting the cost of playing on St Johnstone’s pitch on Sunday afternoon with two players now a doubt for Wednesday’s trio to Livingston.

Celtic managed a battling 1-0 victory on a day where the elements played their part.

The pitch was in a horrible condition for the Scottish Cup quarter-final tie and you could see the players were struggling to get to grips with it.

At some areas the ball was sticking and near the corners of the pitch you could have mistaken parts for a swamp.

This puts added strain on players legs and it appears James Forrest and Kristofer Ajer are feeling the after effects.

Speaking to BBC Sportsound after the cup victory Neil Lennon said:

“He’s (Forrest) got a bit of a dead leg but I think that he should be OK.

“Kris Ajer has got a bit of a thigh strain as well, the game took a lot out of us physically so we’ll see how they are in the next couple of days.

“We lost at the Toni Macaroni Stadium earlier in the season so we have to be right for that one.”

Celtic are closing in in their ninth successive title while being two cup games away from potentially winning a fourth treble in a row. Incredible to think this is even on the table!

The players must stay focused and Neil Lennon knows he’ll have to call on his full squad to get over the line.
