Neil Lennon Blames One Man After Celtic Defeat

NEIL LENNON has taken a huge swipe at Bobby Madden after the referee sent off Nir Bitton which ultimately turned the game.

Nir Bitton switched off and rugby tackled Morelos to the ground. The Celtic manager concedes it was a foul but believes it was not a sending off as Ajer was closing in and Morelos had so much ground to still cover.

If this writer is being honest, I’d be screaming red had it happened at the other end of the park and for good reason.

It was no doubt the running point but who is to blame? Neil Lennon wants Bobby Madden to be the villain and it’s an easy target because of who he is. For me, Nir Bitton has sold the jersey, if Neil Lennon thinks Ajer is there to cover then he should be so upset his defender rugby tackled Morelos.

Speaking to RecordSport, the Celtic manager said:

“I’m bitterly disappointed.

“The referee has made the wrong decision and it’s changed the course of the game.

“It’s not a sending off, it’s a foul, we’ve got Ajer coming in on the cover and Morelos is in a wide position.

“It’s not a clear and obvious goalscoring opportunity – he might get a shot off but he’s certainly not clear through on goal.

“I think he (Madden) was too quick to get the red card out. I’m bitterly disappointed and really proud of the performance.”

Celtic collapsed after the sending off, lost any shape they had and couldn’t even see it out for a draw. There was an element of panic after the sending off, had they rebounded from the decision, we could have managed a draw.
