Amid an injury crisis at centre-back at the beginning of the current campaign, Celtic were forced into the loan market for a stop-gap solution. Nat Phillips was brought in from Liverpool with high expectations.
Many anticipated that the loan would be extended beyond January, however, the Englishman failed to hit the ground running. His performances were sub-par, and he managed just eight appearances in all competitions.

The 26-year-old returned to Anfield this month but could be set for another departure. Per the Daily Mail, English Championship sides Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers, and Leeds United are all keen on the central defender. Any move would see Phillips join either of these sides on a six-month loan deal.
At Celtic, it simply didn’t work out for the player. Whether it be down to play style or simply just circumstance, his time in Glasgow was forgettable.
He is now moving on and once more, he has been deemed surplus to requirements in Merseyside and a deal to a second-tier side similar to the ilk that saw him join The Bhoys seems likely.
