Motherwell central defender Dan Casey is in a sweat to face Celtic after being caught up in what Stuart Kettlwell described as the ‘worst decision’ he’s ever seen.
The Steelmen welcomed Kilmarnock to Fir Park last Friday night in the Scottish Premiership. The match ended one apiece, with the biggest talking being the sending-off of Casey.
In the second half, the defender grabbed his opponent’s shirt, and his hand appeared to slip up to the neck area. He was sent off after a VAR check:

You can make of the incident what you will, but Motherwell boss Kettlewell wasn’t particularly pleased with it: “I think that’s wholly unacceptable,” he said (RecordSport).
“After the game I said it was in the top three worst decisions from games I’ve been involved in – on hindsight I’ve looked at it again and composed myself and it is genuinely the worst one I’ve seen.”
As a result of the ordering off, Casey is now at risk of missing his side’s Boxing Day visit to Celtic Park. Motherwell, though, have appealed his red card, and a verdict will be given today at 4pm at a fast-tracked tribunal.

A boyhood Hoops fan, Casey will be eager to impress should he be in contention to play on Thursday.
For Celtic, though, all focus will be on getting back to winning ways after a disappointing goalless draw away to Dundee United on Sunday.
Brendan Rodgers’ men were lacklustre and must improve as a colossal run of games continues throughout the end of the year and into January.
