Motherwell Looking to Take “Advantage” of Under Pressure Celtic

Experienced Motherwell defender Paul McGinn has expressed his hopes for the Steelmen to capitalise on Celtic’s recent form and add to the champions’ pressures when they face off at Fir Park this coming Sunday.

Following a string of less-than-ideal outcomes for Motherwell — including a 2-0 defeat to Hearts, a dramatic draw against Aberdeen, and a Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Morton — McGinn sees the upcoming fixture against a stumbling Celtic as a prime opportunity for Motherwell to bounce back and make a statement.

The teams have already played two hard-fought games this season. Celtic left it late at Fir Park last time to win 2-1, while Motherwell left Parkhead with a point.

Celtic, having experienced their own set of challenges including a recent 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock, find themselves in a vulnerable position, having been overtaken by Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Speaking on the matter, McGinn pointed out, “There is a bit of pressure on Celtic this week, so hopefully we can take advantage of it. I don’t imagine it’s one they would want after a result like Saturday. We need to make it as hard as we can for them.” [RecordSport]
