Moritz Jenz has reflected on his time at Celtic, expressing his appreciation for the opportunity to play in the Champions League while admitting he held a strong desire to move on from Parkhead.

He stated that he played regularly and was part of the team that leads the league, but at some point, the coach decided to use other players, making it difficult for him.
His parent club Lorient recalled Jenz, with Celtic‘s option to buy in the summer looking increasingly unlikely, the German chose to end his loan early and seek another move. He then returned to his homeland to play for relegation-threatened side Schalke on a loan move until the end of the season.
Moritz Jenz explained how it was frustrating to watch others be selected ahead of him, stating: [Football Scotland]
“I played all the time and was a regular in the Champions League.
“We were top of the league. But there are moments when a coach decides to use other players. Then it became difficult for me. Lorient, my home club, then also sought a change.
“Celtic had a purchase option for the coming summer, and from Lorient’s point of view, it was becoming increasingly unrealistic that this would be drawn. Moreover, it was also my clear desire to change clubs.”
Moritz Jenz was a decent player for the club during his six-month spell, but it was pretty clear that he wasn’t going to be able to help to the team progress in Europe, not showing to be an upgrade on Starfelt or Carter-Vickers. The end of his Celtic career became clear when Ange Postecoglou signed Yuki Kobayashi.
