Lennon Miller will remain at Motherwell beyond the January transfer window, with Celtic’s interest not progressing into a formal bid.

The Hoops had been linked with a deadline-day swoop for the highly-rated midfielder, with reports suggesting a £4 million valuation had been set. However, it has now emerged that no late move materialised, and Motherwell were determined to keep hold of their young star.

Celtic made an approach earlier in the window, gauging the possibility of signing the 18-year-old before the deadline. However, Motherwell made it clear that they were not willing to part ways with Miller mid-season, and no further negotiations took place.
Reports had suggested a late push from Celtic, but those claims have now been played down, with Motherwell standing firm on their stance.
With Miller continuing his development at Fir Park, Celtic may revisit their interest in the summer, particularly if the midfielder continues his impressive progress.
Celtic currently have a strong midfield, and it wasn’t an area which needed immediate reinforcements.
Celtic headed into deadline day needing a left-back and a striker, and they now have just over three hours to tie up their business and complete that. Whether they will or not remains to be seen.
