It is a long shot for most Celtic fans, but they would love to see someone of Rafa Benitez’ ilk get the Celtic gig but it seems pie in the sky.
However, for those dreaming of a scenario where this could be possible then the latest developments in his talks with current club Newcastle will be of interest.
All week it has been billed as Rafa Benitez set for sit down talks with Mike Ashley over his future but it appears the Newcastle chairman has delegated the job to someone else.
According to Sky Sports.com the negotiations between the club and Rafa have been dealt with by their managing director and NOT the chairman.
Sky Sports understands that Newcastle’s managing director Lee Charnley has been tasked by owner Mike Ashley to lead the negotiations with Benitez.

This could be significant if Ashley doesn’t deem his presence necessary, it could rub the Spaniard the wrong way.
Benitez has not hidden his desire to push Newcastle forward but will only stay if the owner matches his ambitions.
Celtic are looking for a new full time gaffer and Rafa is currently the bookies favourite but that counts for nothing at the moment.
