Celtic Park Game Gets Rare Sky Sports Broadcast

Tomorrow night’s match against Aberdeen at Celtic Park will be televised live on Sky Sports, in a rare midweek game at Paradise in the Scottish Premiership.

Last season, Celtic’s 6-0 win over Aberdeen in November was televised on Sky, with the broadcaster favouring the game between the sides. Rangers’ match against the Dons at Ibrox last month was also televised.

Earlier in the season, when Aberdeen drew 2-2 at Celtic Park, Premier Sports looked to televise the game.

However, Celtic opted out in favour of not revealing the kick-off time from 3pm on that Saturday. The club communicated this decision to supporters, expressing an understanding of the travel many fans put in.

It’s certainly poised to be an exciting but tough game for Celtic tomorrow night, with Aberdeen returning to form in recent weeks after a dismal winless run in earlier months. The Dons are now back up to third in the table and come to Celtic Park under the lights, looking to cause the Hoops problems.

However, given the tough games the Dons have given Celtic since that 6-0 win in November 2023, Brendan Rodgers and his team know exactly the threat that Jimmy Thelin’s side will bring in a game that is often highly competitive all over the pitch.

For Celtic, it’s a chance to bounce back from a rare domestic defeat at Easter Road on Saturday, with Rodgers and the players likely to be fired up.

With the game live on Sky, it will generate significant viewing figures. However, with the broadcaster only allowed to show five Celtic home games each season, which usually includes Flag Day and trophy presentations alongside two Glasgow derbies, tomorrow’s match will be the fifth and final game selected out with the other games mentioned.
