Celtic midfielder, Callum McGregor has hit out at those who do not see the effect that hoops captain, Scott Brown has on the side.
As reported by the Glasgow Times, the 27-year old made the claim that Brown is fitter than ever, despite playing at the age of 35 and praised him for having a massive effect on the side in recent games.
”Playing in there beside him, I can tell you that he hasn’t lost a yard. He’s always the fittest guy on the pitch, he’s the fittest in training and he drives the standards.
“I think he’s been excellent, but certainly in the last couple of games, he’s really shown his mettle again and shown why he’s such a top player.
”He’s just been a leader from day one, and he’s driving that through the whole squad.
“If you don’t watch that and learn from it then you’re missing a trick in my book.
“Everything he does, I watch it and try to learn from it. He’s been an incredible influence on me.”
In recent weeks, Scott Brown has come in for his fair share of criticism from sections of the support due to some of his performances.
The last few games though, Brown has begun to show signs of him returning to his usual self.
We hear these sort of comments all the time about our captain. Whether that be from his team-mates or his manager, Neil Lennon.
It is clear he still has a role within this side and the whole squad still look to a player like Brown for inspiration.
Perhaps it is fair to say that being 35, he should be getting a break from time to time. But to suggest that he is ’done’ simply isn’t true and I’m sure he will continue to prove that as the season progresses
