Meet Gustaf Lagerbielke, a 23-year-old defender standing at an impressive 6ft3″ and a right-footed Centre-Back linked with a move to Celtic. Lagerbielke’s football career has taken him on an exciting journey, having played for several clubs.
He started at FC Djursholm, where he remained until 2017 before moving to AIK Solna (2017-2018). From there, he joined Sollentuna FK in 2019, and then moved to Västerås SK in 2021. His most recent move was to IF Elfsborg in 2021, where he currently plays.
On the international stage, Lagerbielke has represented Sweden at various levels and debuted for the senior Sweden national team on January 12, 2023. He has also played for the Sweden U21, U20, U19, U18, and U17 teams.

The talented Swede is well-known for his ball control, positioning, and aerial ability. Gustaf has been a valuable asset to Elfsborg, making 15 appearances so far this term and contributing to their position as top of the league. The defender has become accustomed to playing in a team that dominates possession.
With two years left on his Elfsborg contract, the club is reluctant to lose him and aims to get the most out of a potential transfer fee. Gustaf has only made 26 appearances for Elfsborg, spending a season out on loan to Degerfors IF before making the breakthrough with the current league leaders. He’s scored three goals for Elfsborg so far.
Celtic is looking to add more centre-back competition, especially with Gustaf’s countryman Carl Starfelt set to leave the club this week. According to Expressen, Celtic has already made a £3m bid for Lagerbielke and spoken to the player’s agent. It will be exciting to see how quickly this deal moves.
