Marco Tilio is on the verge of sealing his permanent exit from Celtic, with a move to Rapid Vienna now close to completion.
The 24-year-old has undergone and completed a medical with the Austrian club and is expected to be unveiled shortly, according to reports from Sky Sports.
Tilio signed for Celtic in the summer of 2023 from Melbourne City, but failed to make an impact at Parkhead. Injury setbacks and limited opportunities saw him fall out of contention under Brendan Rodgers, and he was sent back on loan to his former A-League side midway through the season. Despite some bright moments on his return to Australia, it was clear he wasn’t part of Celtic’s long-term plans.
Rapid Vienna have now stepped in to offer the Australian international a fresh start. Tilio is believed to have agreed a four-year deal with the Austrian Bundesliga side, who are looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season. The move will give the winger another shot at European football, with Rapid currently involved in Conference League qualifiers.
For Celtic, the transfer represents a clean break and a modest return on their initial investment. The club had hoped Tilio could offer depth and creativity in wide areas, but with competition growing and the demands high, the move never quite took off.
His departure clears space in the squad as Rodgers continues to reshape the group ahead of a packed domestic and European campaign.

Tilio becomes the latest player to depart as part of Celtic’s summer reshuffle, with the club actively trimming the squad while targeting reinforcements in key areas.
For Tilio, the move offers a chance to reset and prove himself in a league that should suit his style. For Celtic, it’s one more chapter closed in a busy transfer window.
