Media Silence After Stamp on Celtic Player

After the intensity of the debate which surrounded Leigh Griffiths after he was accused of stamping on Sam Woods in the Hamilton game – can we expect the same pundits to call out this stamp on Scott Brown? I won’t hold my breath.

Leigh was made to look the villain when Sam Woods grabbed his foot while on the ground. His foot naturally had to come down and the player had to switch all his weight to his left foot to make sure he didn’t come down hard on the Hamilton player. However, many pundits called for the player to be banned for the stamp and the debate raged on until the SFA rightly cleared him. Even after that, the debate became about the SFA not taking action.

Nothing has been made of this stamp on Scott Brown by Motherwell’s Chris Long. There’s not much in it at all, just like the Griffiths incident, but it’s still a stamp, yet there’s no backlash whatsoever.

Now whether you think this is deliberate or not. The sheer volume of this flashpoint had it been a Celtic player would be so loud it would carry over until Sunday.

As we sit here today, it has not been mentioned at all. At the time I thought it looks like an accident but slowed down, the ball is gone and he continues. It could be, and is most likely innocent, but given we’re just fresh off the Griff debate for something very similar – why is their silence about this?
