ALEX MCLEISH has changed his tune on Leigh Griffiths after a nightmare doubleheader during the international break.
Leigh was hung out to dry by the former EBT recipient last month when he was made to chase shadows against Belgium and dropped for the Albania game as a result.
Reports in the dressing room suggested Leigh got a dressing down from the Scotland coaching staff after the Belgium defeat.
Instead of sitting on the bench for his country this week, Leigh decided to stay with Celtic and get back to full fitness.
At the time McLeish seemed irked by the call off from Leigh and told the Celtic star there were no guarantees of a call-up next time around.
Now after two defeats, one of them being an absolute shocking performance in Israel, the former Ibrox boss is now singing from a different hymn sheet.
Speaking about Leigh after the Portugal McLeish McLeish said: “I want anyone back in the squad who can score a lot of goals and be a real threat and give me options.
“I had a chat with Leigh last week and he said that physically he had to get better. That’s an individual choice. But I admire him for that.
“He wants to get to a level of fitness when he can blow Brendan Rodgers away and blew the nation away and hopefully fire the goals to get him to where he wants to be fitness-wise.”
