Stephen McGinn has expressed his astonishment at the absence of significant interest from English Premier League giants in Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney, amid Celtic’s ongoing efforts to bring the Scotland international back to Parkhead.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a sensational return to his boyhood club, despite previously attracting widespread acclaim in the Premier League.
Celtic have been in contact with the player and his agent, but are yet to approach Arsenal.
Speaking on Go Radio, McGinn questioned why some of the top clubs south of the border are not pursuing the left-back.
“Celtic don’t really have any right in the modern times to get him. Every top club wants two players for every position. Kieran Tierney has been available for a lot of games in the last few years. You are telling me a Man United wouldn’t be interested in a Kieran Tierney and would pay more money for him just to be a squad player?
“Celtic aren’t going to do anything mad financially and take risks, especially over the left back position. They have just made a profit on (Alexandro) Bernabei so it might be that behind the scenes, that offsets what the loan fee will be for Kieran Tierney.”
While McGinn voiced surprise at the lack of immediate action from top Premier League clubs, reports suggest there is interest from sides such as Leicester City, Brentford, and West Ham United. However, Tierney’s strong emotional ties to Celtic could be a deciding factor in his next move, with the player reportedly keen on a return to Glasgow.
Celtic’s bid to re-sign Tierney represents a rare opportunity for the club to bring back a world-class talent in his prime. With the January transfer window in full swing, the coming weeks could determine whether Tierney once again pulls on the famous green and white hoops—or if he opts for another challenge elsewhere.
Going by reports and what CeltsAreHere are aware of, it seems that a pre-contract agreement will be the priority before any talk of a January move.
