Ahead of Lazio’s Champions League showdown with Celtic, Maurizio Sarri, the Lazio manager, took a moment to heap praise on his counterpart at the Scottish club, Brendan Rodgers.

Even as his Serie A side grapples with challenges, Sarri has maintained his admiration for Celtic’s style and performance in recent fixtures. His comments were especially focused on Celtic’s Champions League match against Feyenoord.
Sarri remarked: [Tuttomercato]
“For dynamism, speed and intensity it is a very dangerous team. It surprised me from a technical point of view, it has considerable values.
“In the Champions League with Feyenoord they deserved much more than them, they took a free kick goal before halftime.
“I really like Rodgers, he’s a great coach. He worked 3 years in Liverpool, he has a great career. Celtic can be the group’s underdogs.”
Celtic went toe-to-toe with Feyenoord, and for the first half at least, were arguably the better side. The red card changed the game, of course, but still trailing by a goal, many believe that Celtic could still find an equaliser. However, Holm’s red card saw Celtic reduced to 9 men, and the game was over, as far as Celtic were concerned.
However, after a strong defensive display for the last part of the match, Celtic kept the scoreline respectable.
Hopefully, Rodgers can live up to Sarri’s praise and deliver three points against Lazio on Wednesday.
